How do you operate a piling rig?
When operating a pile driver, it is necessary to strictly follow safety regulations and equipment operation requirements. Different models such as hydraulic, vibration, impact, etc. have their own characteristics in specific operations, but the overall steps are roughly the same, and can be carried out according to the following process.
1、 Preparation work before construction
(1)Equipment inspection
Before the official launch of the mobile pilot driver, a comprehensive inspection needs to be completed first. Focus on checking the working status of the frame, hydraulic pipeline, power device, pile hammer body, steel wire rope, and braking mechanism to confirm whether they are intact and normal. At the same time, it is necessary to confirm whether the levels of engine oil, hydraulic oil, and cooling water are within the specified range. All instrument displays and alarm indicators must respond promptly.
(2)Confirmation of construction site
Clean up the debris in the construction area, level and compact the ground to ensure that the foundation can withstand the weight of the pile driver; Place the pile position line in advance, set up a warning range, and prohibit unrelated personnel from entering.
(3)Personnel protection requirements
Operators must have corresponding operating certificates and wear safety helmets, anti slip shoes, and reflective vests when on duty to ensure their own safety.

2、 Equipment positioning and trial operation
Pile driving equipment manufacturers recommend not working immediately after starting the equipment. Let it idle for 3-5 minutes to allow the system to fully warm up, while observing whether all instruments are normal.
(1)Positioning and leveling
Adjust the equipment to a horizontal position using legs or tracks, and align it with the pile position to ensure a stable and non tilting posture of the entire machine.
(2)No load trial operation
After starting the mobile pilot driver, a no-load trial run should be conducted, which mainly includes the following steps:
Action test: Test the lifting and rotating functions of the pile hammer to confirm that the operation process is smooth and without any jamming.
Fixture inspection: Check the pile clamping device to ensure that it is firmly clamped and securely locked.
Height pre adjustment: According to the construction requirements, adjust the pile hammer to the appropriate starting height in advance.
3、 Formal pile driving operation
(1)Pile fixation
Place the pile body vertically into the pile position and use fixtures or manual assistance to straighten it, ensuring that the vertical deviation is controlled within the allowable range (generally not exceeding 1%).
(2)Start piling
Pile driver manufacturers suggest selecting a suitable operation method based on geological conditions and pile types, and conducting trial driving with lower force or frequency to observe the settlement of the pile and the stability of the equipment.
(3)Process adjustment
The mobile pile driver needs to gradually adjust the pile driving parameters based on the soil conditions (such as soft soil, sand layer, or rock layer) to ensure smooth sinking of the pile body and avoid deviation. Always monitor the penetration and depth, and stop the machine promptly after meeting the design requirements.
(4)Exception handling
Pile driver manufacturers suggest that if there are abnormal noises, obvious shaking, oil leakage, or other situations during the construction process of the pile driver, it must be stopped immediately, the cause of the machine malfunction must be investigated, and safety must be confirmed before continuing the operation.
4、 Closing and shutdown
After the pile driver operation is completed, the pile hammer should first be stopped and raised to a safe position. Then, the fixture should be released and the completed pile body should be removed. Turn off the engine, clean the dirt attached to the fuselage, check for wear or damage to key components, and promptly complete the work record. Finally, retract the equipment legs, park the entire machine in the designated area, tighten the handbrake, and cut off the main power supply.
5、Key safety reminders
(1)When encountering thunderstorms, strong winds of level six or above, or night lighting that does not meet operational requirements, construction should be immediately stopped.
(2)During pile driving operations, operators must be on duty throughout the entire process, closely observing the status of the pile, equipment operation, and surrounding environmental dynamics.
(3)All equipment maintenance and upkeep operations must be carried out only after complete shutdown and cutting off the power supply, and any form of live operation is strictly prohibited.
